Alright so to reiterate what I said in the thread for those that didn't read it. Sorry for the delay, the menu's took quite a bit. And honestly so did this character but I'm not great with neon punk style but I'll get better.
The player menus are as done as then can be without balancing for gameplay, of which their currently is none yet. This does not include shop menus, bbs systems, or dialogue menus. I plan on tackling those as I need them.
So to wet your whistle and just generally show I'm not dead. Here is one of the characters that will be in the game.

And just a heads up, the latest version of Bonehead is kind of buggy. Reg (the author) plans to rebuild the game in a different game engine.

DeleteRegless, i think the biggest reason why you had problems in rpg maker is because the engine's are too weak for your game without changing the core scripts that is, Game maker is a stronger at core system, i've checked around for some facts and vx ace is too weak for your game simple as that MV is stronger but un-supported by windows 10 and few with thatcompatible drivers mostly (like most rpg maker ect like games are) right now windows 10 only got 4-5 drivers updates ect that have good enough compatibility to games. Also if you change core engine scripts without changing system parts in an engine, you end up with less compatibility stability for the game in rpg maker vx ace. id suspect the same is for MV, so game maker will be more flexible and powerfull in the end, it is possible that it might not seem that powerfull compared to rpg maker MV but it is. If you want same or close to same system on game maker for bonehead that won't be just possible but it will work a lot better with it. :)

I am a big fan of new game plus, and generally consider that as a must add in all games so players can look for extra or hidden content without the grind. And it's not especially hard to do in rpgmaker. A little tedious, but not hard.
Delete@christian yes indeed. It still blows my mind how many functions were removed from rpgmaker in vx, and even though a lot of said features were reintroduced in later versions, it's still rather slow and cumbersome.

DeleteWorking on the dialogue system. things that are left are, log, choices, polish for alignment on various resolutions. Next will be polish on options and save/load menus.
game seems nice, exept the color on text is a tiny bit strong with
Deletethe glow like text as it is. try make text color either in white or green, possible Purple if you want to keep the glow, other than that it looks good keep it up! :)
yeah I know it looks awful. Just a test sprite based font. First time using them. and it served it's purpose well enough for testing. I got the log, skip and hide functions working great. auto needs a bit of tuning. Choices aren't in yet. At this point I've gone back to previous menus to start polishing them, fix scale issues and that sort of thing. The last week was really good in terms of getting that kind of stuff done. Cheers.

ReplyDeleteDon't want to do everything myself but it's difficult to get high enough quality artists on retainer on the amount of money i can afford. Might be something to look at once i get a patreon going but for that i want to have something substantial to show first.
DeleteYou might want to look up the creator of The Last Soveriegn, Sierra Lee, she's willing to collab with other game makers and could help you with alleviating the workload in a variety of ways.
