Sorry sorry, I didn't get much done over the weekend. I mean I did the first day of it, but then it was all about my japanese lessons. I did manage to finish coloring Dryden's mother though. Anyway I still got a ton to try and get done so I'll see you chaps later.
At first I was thinking that she looked a little... not happy? But I couldn't decide on whether it was anger, frustration, depression or what. Then I remembered the situation with the father.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting things done, I'm gonna be gone for almost a month soon, so my hope (unrealistic though it may be) is that you'll be ready for beta testing once I get back.
She looks kinda like my mother when she was younger... skin little brighter and hair little darker... playing her line will be awkward :)
ReplyDeleteif there will be...
Deleteare donation's being accepted i would like to help but i don't know the first thing about video game programing and the demo is addictive
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not mistaken, in one of the blog entries he answered that he would not take any money due to the fact that he doesn't have the intellectual property rights to the music or various scripts.
DeleteI know its kind of annoying that we can't support this project financially.
However he already has a reasonable sized fan base because of this game. If he were to ever make a completely original work, no doubt he would have people lining up waiting to buy a copy.... *hint-hint nudge-nudge* :)
Anon nailed it. As for making a unique game. Well I've got a brother learning coding so maybe that'll be something to look at further down the line. But right now the only thing I'm going to be working on for the forseeable future is this game.
DeleteThis drawing looks amazing Its very well done. I finished the Demo recently and I just wanted to say that the story is amazing loved the mechanics. Problems are that I cant always identify what choice gets a positive result, and the text is obscure when telling you where to find locations.
ReplyDeleteI am worried about the amount of text required for when our character switches form doesn't that slow production speed?
What will Dryden's mom do for money???
ReplyDeleteShe has 2 hungry kids to feed and a husband who can't work. She has only one option.
DeleteFarming.
"Farming". That or the worlds oldest profession :)
DeleteThat's right, she could also work as a stone mason.
DeleteOr, y'know, her son who will be rich as all hell from his adventuring loot, and the temple donations that the "bone spirit" can take would probably be more than enough to feed such a small family. Especially since food is cheap in comparison to things like armor and castle upgrades.
Deleteoldest profession? oh, yeah, right!
DeleteBrewing ^_^ lol >.> <.< >.>
Good stuff man. No need to rush, you have your priorities.
ReplyDeleteI want to take Japanese lessons too, but my afternoon-night shift and constant at home chores makes getting lessons kind of impossible/very difficult right now >.<
yeah. Time is a must. Right now I'm putting average of around 5 hours a day into it. It's pretty brutal. But then again I don't have anyone to practice with either. I've tried getting my roommate in on it but he's got his own studies.
DeleteSo here's a question. You specifically had a guard say that Lady Yin took a vow of celibacy due to being a priestess. Now, this is looking like a Japanese setting. Not all Miko have to be virgins all of their lives. Only certain ones. Others were allowed to reproduce... but whatever not the main question. The main question is, do you know the difference between celibacy and chastity? Most don't. Especially since the dictionaries update with time, and how we use the language. However in the era of the game... it should be using the old definitions.
ReplyDeleteChastity - Pureness of body. Meaning no sex. Hence, chastity belts.
Celibacy - Pureness of the soul and/or mind. Like when a monk gets horny and will meditate to clear the "impure" thoughts and desires from himself.
Now, vows of celibacy came to eventually mean no sex because people couldn't understand how you could have sex without being impure. However in the past this was understood differently, at least by the educated people (priests, priestesses, nobles, lawmakers, tax collectors, and (wealthy) merchants. You could be pure of mind/soul and still have sex. If sex was restricted to only when you were actually "making love" and/or for pure reproductive purposes. Therefore there were different kinds of celibacy vows. Those that allowed sex for both making love, (like the wedding night for loving couples rather than political couples) and reproduction (trying for a child), those that only allowed sex for reproduction, and those that only allowed sex for "making love" where a child was a happy accident.
Vows of chastity however meant no sex, ever.
Those who were especially restricted took vows of celibacy AND chastity. No sex, not even horny mental feelings. Since there is a relationship meter for Lady Yin, I'm assuming (and hoping) there will be a sex scene for her as well. So she couldn't have taken a vow of chastity, unless you plan on having her break it. The question is, which type of celibacy vow did she take? One that allows sex for both reproduction and making love? Or just one of the two.
But the commoners should rightfully think that celibacy = no sex ever. Not being educated and all.
I thought I made a response to this already... Maybe I just got halfway through and passed out or something. Anyway, I did find that enlightening actually. It makes sense and does fit with what I already had in mind sooo cool. Thanks for that.
DeleteAnd I found another error. Realized that in my many playthroughs, I never once tried to initially approach Lady Yin in the Blight Woods as Dryden. (When she's under attack from the zombies.) So I tried that today. There is the option to "suit up and jump in" however when you choose it, Dryden says that there are too many people. He still jumps in, and the text shows the Bone Spirit, while the screen shows normal Dryden. You then proceed to enter the battle as plain old Dryden, and can't assume Bone Spirit during that fight. Needless to say, you die.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could incorporate some kind of line-of-sight rule for transforming, rather than the people-in-the-room rule? It'll be harder, but feasible. Probably should be saved for the next release also, rather than this one if you decide to incorporate it. Of course, you could always simply make the choice to "suit up" an override of sorts, since it would be a case by case thing. In this case, you are behind the wall, only the zombies could possibly see you change, and even then the people are distracted by the zombies. Both methods would work.
DeleteWell the thing is, The game by itself will only only check direction. I have a script that could work for distance but even assuming I put in all work for that the real problem arises with collision detection in that there is none for line of site. Presuming I find a script to take care of that the game still wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a solid wall or a window or a fence. So the line of sight option doesn't really work. Micromanaging small areas is a little more feasible.
ReplyDeleteWhatever works! I'm sure there's a way for line-of-sight to work, it's in plenty of other games but those tend to be professional ones where they have scripters they can pay to figure all that crap out. As long as it work in the end, doesn't matter if you do 2+2 or 1+3, you still end up with 4.
DeleteAny comment on the chastity/celibacy bit above? Or is it a surprise that we'll find out later?
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to code, but could you do a path check? Have the game check if the character could walk a straight line to Dryden. Since for pathing it should check if there is unpassable terrain it would return a no, which you could then send into the 'can they see him' check.
DeleteA little convoluted, and maybe more difficult to do than would be worthwhile, but it's the thought that popped into my mind at your explanation.
Rin reminds me of the evil Imoen in the Slayer dreams of Baldur's Gate 2.
ReplyDeleteI looked at what you posted and looked up who it was about. Cant say I agree.
ReplyDeleteWell, Imoen in that game is your sister.
DeleteBut she talks to u in a sexy way in those dream states.
I guess its the context for me.
Were you maybe playing with the Imoen Romance Mod?
DeleteNo, she does that canonically in the slayer dreams. It's a voiced line.
DeleteI can't wait!
ReplyDeleteProbably not the good place to ask this but... could anyone point me towards the demo? Found a couple of links, all for RapidShare which requires a monthly membership of 40$ (first time they ask for a membership, I don't get it. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

DeleteYou can find the demo here also remember to grab the font for the game
Deletehttp://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php/352093-RPGMakerVX-project-BoneHead-(Updated-10-10-12)-Demo-Out
yup, that's the link I found. got the .dll, the font but the link for the demo itself is unavailable since July 1st according to Rapidfire. Got a screenshot of what I see when I click the link :
Deletehttp://xxx.freeimage.us/share.php?id=97BB_53EA777E
Just use one of the other links then - either the Dropbox one or the Mediafire one (whichever you prefer).
DeleteMediafire is for screenshot.dll which I did d/l
DeleteDropbox has one link for the .dll and another for the font (got both)
Never saw the MEGA link before just now. Wow, kinda feel like an idiot right now :P
Thanks to the both of for taking the time to reply though
Is there some kind of E.T.A for the release ? even an approximation

Deletemaybe by end of the year...
DeleteOkay thanks for the swift reply , don't rush It your game is truly one of the best there is out there. I just love the Design ,the game-play is great too, when I played the demo I though it was of the quality of game made by company like Camelot S.P . Good luck with the rest of the work .
Deleteyes, end of the year is looking extremely likely since I got one of the scripts I had been waiting for this weekend.
DeleteHey Corey, I have a question. When I get the pictures for my costume, how should I put them on here?
ReplyDeleteNevermind.... A difference in opinions between the "two artists" working on the costume caused a little hitch with the costume..... a delay in imagery will be implemented... (FYI it was the other guys fault.)
DeleteCouldn't you just use tinypic.com? Not sure if you can post a pic in a blog reply comment, but you can still just post the tinypic link.
DeleteAnd yes, I realize I'm, not Cory -_-;
thanks for you help fake-corey. once I get the pictures from my gf I'll do that. Warning. It's not the best. it kinda fell apart at the last second. :(
DeleteIt's okay. I'm not really Corey either. This is the end result of a brother who decided to use my email to register a his own blog once, many years ago.
DeleteNo offense, but I think she looked better before.
ReplyDeleteReally? I think she looks much better.
DeleteAgree
DeleteWhy is she so wide/broad?
They also supposed to have very little food.
Same for Bao (if I'm not mistaken).
I disagree, I definitely think this is an improvement. The first ones were good as well mind you, but I think the main improvement is that the facial lines aren't as sharp and the features have gotten more well defined. That goes for all the latest image posts I think, looking forward to seeing them in-game =)
DeleteFirst off sorry for the late reply. Next, Oh man where do I start. the face was jackknifed, body was lop-sided, arms were annorexic neck was too look. I am actually surprised it looked as good as it given given the abundance of tiny little hidden errors.
DeleteAs for the broad shoulders. That is closer to what muscular women have. I figure since she would have been taking care of two kids, a sic husband, the house, and what little is left of the farmwork since the crops failed, she should look like she can handle a fair amount of crap sent her way. That was the idea anyway.
If you're into the more petite forms, don't worry. There's a metric ****ton of that you ain't even seen yet. Cheers.
Considering it fell almost completely apart at the last second, this is the best I could do. :( I'm sorry. And I am going to continue to work on it to make it look better.

Ha, That's still awesome. Seeing that was pretty much the perfect way to end the weekend and good luck with the costume in the future.
DeleteIm glad you like it bro. I know I did. ^_^
DeleteCorey, will you be streaming again?
