Figured I'd give you all an update since you've been waiting so patiently. I've started working on some of the CG more regularly which is a good sign. The thing I've been working on lately that's taken up so much time is a tactical battle system. I've hintd that armies will clash and this provides me a fun method to do that which making dozens of maps carefully contrived events. I'm using the GTBS script for vx done by gubid and aim to have a couple screenshots of it up in a couple weeks. So till then, take care ladies and gentlemen.

Oh and if any oh you know how to script in rpg maker vx, drop me a line. I want to get an add on for the gtbs made and would be very happy to pay for it.

  2. Exit Fate is an RPGMaker game that had Suikoden-esque war battles. Have you played it?

    1. Just took a look now and it seems pretty cool. Different script and rpg maker though so unfortunately I can't use anything from it. I can kill a few hours playing the game though~

  4. Little update. I was able to get in touch with gubid and he'd be happy to help make the add on for the GTBS script. so... YES! He wants to finish off the current version of the VX ace version he's doing now. *Understandable. I'm sure many are waiting on that.* but yeah. Good news there.

  5. Oh I love tactics based battles! Please tell me they'll be closer to Fire Emblem like Tactical RPGs, where each unit on your team is unique. Or even close to Tactics Ogre where unique units lead squads or small armies on the field! Oh, I'm getting all kinds of excited!

  6. Still trying out things. One idea I had is make weapon and armor sets named after the characters so you could 'equip' the characters to certain units. Doing it that way means more stock units. But of course some units will be unique regardless.

Another way to do is to have the units all unique and you upgrade them by doing special events, story choices, or by finding new characters. Issue with that being while I do have a plethora of characters I don't have anywhere near the amount as say suikoden.

And then there are assorted hybrids of the two.

I managed too split the walk on water script so that I can have naval and heavy naval units. The issue is I have to find a way to control placement so you don't put land units on water. lol. I love working on this stuff.

One thing I can say is the characters won't be fighting solo. I've already got a battle system for those kinds of fights. cheers.

  8. I personally am an avid fan of strategy games, both real time and turn based, so this means I've casually perused my soldiers in chess, I've inspected my battleships in Homeworlds one and two and I have devastatingly sniped an opponent in Supreme Commander. Needless to say, this whole thing is starting to sound really exciting.

Also, as far as land units going on water, why not just make the naval unit ridiculously overpowered if you can't find a script? No, really. Think about it. Let's say you have a person with an attack power of...10. Weak, I know, but they could be fairly strong compared to the land units. But I don't think you would want to disable land units going in water completely (there's this mystical power called swimming, btw) so make the sea units uberpowered, with say, one hundred attack power, which could even simulate the added difficulty of swimming on top of fighting. Or you know, something along those lines; it's always nice to have a backup after all.

Or maybe I just don't know what I'm doing and I'm shutting up now.

    1. XD As a guy whose fallen into the inlet a couple times working on logs I can assure you it's not as easy as Assasin's Creed makes it look. But Yeah. I can jerry rig some units to move on shallows if I need to. Cheers.

  9. i remember reading from your initial post on hongfire that you were planning some kind of town system is it still going to happen? meaning maybe you take over town or somehow save smaller village and then slowly build/upgrade by getting more people or using gold to build different buildings to a bigger and better town or something similiar?

    1. Yes. I don't want to spoil the plot so I'll just say you'll see how that works at the end of the second chapter. As for upgrades it will be as you predict. Some upgrades occur by finding party members, others can be purchased.

  10. Is there a chance for an update in a not too far off future? (Love the game by the way, it's almost a bit sad that the story in this was so much better and made me want to see the whole game than most games I've played lately.)

  12. Corey are you planning to finish the whole game in one go when it comes out or will you make it in parts meaning you release the game initially and then add stuff to the game in updates?

  14. I don't want to seem like I'm rushing you, but I'm trying to figure out how to express the sheer impatience I have for this game. Fortunately, logic comes into play, and my brain understands that for the game to be as awesomely great as the demo showed, it is going to take time. Unfortunately, the rest of my brain doesn't care that you have a job, maybe a family, not to mention other things in your own life to do besides just make more game stuff all day, and is yelling MORE GAME NOW!!!!!! at the logical portion.

    1. I know how you feel . I played the demo at the beginning and still hope to post the first chapter ... makes me sad , but hopefully the way. I hope that after desemperarem with the map and the game system, it starts to move faster ( much faster ) .
I still wonder if it will really make the game for various purposes , a guy was suggesting a possibility of the harem , and he thought of adding later, towards the end of the possible ways , just that I think it would be better in a game the harem was the chief end and every girl in the " harem " would be obtained through the level of relationship and an event if you fail in one of two loses girl, then you have several "final " .
I will learn how to assemble a game ? I just hope she's as cool as the prologue , also consider that he should stop changing the very character art ( unless it is easier for him ) , now thought well before time consuming and probably improve them .
